Income statements that go out to pay rise by 9%

19.73 million declarations have been registered, 334,000 more than in the 2016 campaign | More than 69% of the amounts coming from the refunds have been reimbursed

This year more Spaniards have had to pay the Treasury after making their declaration. Specifically 9.04% more than in the 2016 campaign or, which is the same, a total of 5,039,485 statements have resulted to enter . The amount today is 10,108,696 euros compared to 8,801,400 euros last year during the campaign for the year 2017, which ended on Monday, according to data provided by the Ministry of Finance.

This increase is due, according to the Tax Agency, to an improvement in the income of people whose economic activity is not subject to retention, that is, they do not previously pay taxes to the Treasury at the time of making the declaration. Therefore, it is "a macroeconomic reason that is not the first year that occurs", mainly due to the dynamism of this type of income.

Faced with this rise, there is a slight decrease in the number of Spaniards to whom the public coffers will return part of their taxation. Specifically, it is reduced by 0.48% compared to the 2016 campaign, that is, 67,260 fewer people will receive this long-awaited return. However, the Tax Agency has returned 6,927 million euros to 11,120,182 taxpayers, 1.59% more than in the same period of the previous year.

19.73 million declarations have been registered, 334,000 more than in the previous campaign and at this time more than 69% of the amounts coming from the requested refunds have already been refunded.

Presentation from the mobile

The new mobile application and the plan 'We call you' are the two new channels with which the campaign of 2017 has counted. The new app has been used by almost 200,000 taxpayers to present their Income Tax return. Of them, almost 158,000 have been statements presented 'in a single click' and the rest previous step on the web for some change.

The 'We call it' plan has been used by 141,000 Spaniards, "less used to new technologies and with a telephone assistance profile". Taxpayers set a date and time for the AEAT to call them to advise them. The presentation by telephone, adding the traditional incoming calls to the AEAT and the 'We Call' plan, has grown by 83%, totaling almost 180,000 statements submitted through this channel.
