Among the movements, however, a 5.1% taxi fare increase is proposed for the next year

The taxi drivers of Madrid will be able to offer next year routes at a fixed price when they are previously contracted through mobile applications or by telephone, as well as making discounts of 10% when the pollution protocols are activated in the city, as has been proposed. the city council of the capital.

The measures appear in the proposal that the Consistory has presented to the Commission of Prices of the Community of Madrid in which, nevertheless, proposes a rise in taxi fares of 5.1% for the next year, percentage equivalent to the inter-annual CPI of transport in Madrid, after chaining four frozen exercises.

The Consistory of the capital also proposes the possibility of suppressing the supplements currently charged by taxi drivers, except those corresponding to the 24th and 31st of December.

In addition, it contemplates articulating new concrete rates when it comes to journeys to travel to the Feria de Madrid (Ifema) or to bus or train stations.

As for the new rates, on the one hand the City will allow the taxi to apply next year what has been called an 'environmental fee' by which the guild can make discounts of 10% on their journeys when the Protocol is activated in the capital of Pollution by nitrogen dioxide.

'Closed price' races like VTCs
In addition, it will also allow taxi drivers to offer "closed price" trips when the service is previously contracted through mobile applications (App) or by telephone.

The taxi would count as well as the same marketing system and service price as those currently used by rental vehicles with driver (VTC), which serve platforms such as Uber and Cabify.

The City Council of Madrid proposes these changes in the tariff regime of the taxi while the sector has an open 'battle' with the VTC, since the capital is the city in which more cars of this type circulate. Currently this sector totals 6,076 cars, which yields a ratio of one for each something more than two taxis.
